  • Quarterly CAPIC Board Meeting (June 17 and 18 in San Diego, CA)

    • Open Session for Members on Friday from 3 to 5 pm.
    • Dinner with CAPIC Board at local restaurant, celebrating our 25^th Anniversary
  • APA/CoA Accrediting Review by US Dept of Education (June 22 – 24 in Washington, DC)
    • CAPIC Plans for Attending and Speaking at hearing
    • Follow-up plans after the hearing
  • CAPIC/MHSA Stipend Program
    • CAPIC awarded new MHSA contract. Start date is July 1, 2016
    • Two years of stipends to students (16 stipends per year).
      • Assist students to find publicly funded postdoc positions.
      • Build on existing work on online training modules,
      • Focus on geographic and ethnographic diversity, and consumers as providers.
      • Coordinate efforts with other institutions, agencies and providers.
  • CAPIC Post-Practicum/Pre-Internship Training Program
    • Is it desirable? Is it feasible?
    • CAPIC Office to first poll the program members for interest
  • 2017 CAPIC Online Internship Match
    • Overall Schedule: Single CAPIC round after APPIC’s 2nd round again?
    • Participation by Students from Out-of-State Academic Programs?
    • Optional Use of APPIC Standardized Letter of Reference form
    • NEW online profile and internship match system. Same procedures.
  • Board Elections:
    • Six board positions are open for election this cycle:
      • NoCA and SoCA Internship Program Representatives.  
        • NoCA position is currently filled by Jorge Wong, Ph.D.  He is running again.
        • SoCA position is currently open.  
      • NoCA and SoCA At-Large Representatives.  
        • NoCA position is currently filled by Andrea Morrison, Ph.D.  She is running again.
        • SoCA position is currently open.  
      • NoCA and SoCA Intern/Student Representatives.  
        • NoCA position is currently filled by Farzana Khan, M.A.  She is not eligible to run again.
        • SoCA position is currently filled by Nadia Thalji, M.A.   She is running again.
      • The Nomination period is open from May 23 to June 12.
      • The Election period is open from June 20 to June 30.
      • Election results will be announced July 7, 2016.
        • Board Terms start July 1, 2016.
      • Next CAPIC Board meeting is September 16 and 17 in Northern CA (likely at JFKU- Berkeley)

Excerpts From Executive Director’s email dated May 21, 2015:

For the past year, your Board has been busy developing a strategy and vision for going forward.

One part of this ongoing planning is increased and improved communications with our CAPIC member programs.  

As one piece, CAPIC will be holding general conference call sessions with our members between our quarterly Board Meetings. 

I truly hope that these conference calls will be a means for us to better develop and explain our vision and plans for CAPIC with you, our members.  

Future such calls will be in February and April/May.
