SUMMARY:ASPPB Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) is the alliance of state\, provincial\, and territorial agencies responsible for the licensure and certification of psychologists throughout the United States and Canada. Its members are the psychology licensing boards across the US and Canada.   \nCAPIC is a liaison to the ASPPB and attends ASPPB meetings to represents the interests of CAPIC and its stakeholders with ASPPB and its members. We educate them about CAPIC in order to help them evaluate applicants from CAPIC programs who seek licensure in their jurisdiction\, and to help them understand how their citizens can obtain licensure in California with CAPIC programs.    \nWe believe that CAPIC programs are substantially equivalent to APA and APPIC programs\, and provide a path to licensure by offering quality\, local and diverse training opportunities without the imprimatur of  accreditation.  We are also concerned with the potential lack of diversity in the profession\, as well as a reduction in services to diverse\, often-underserved communities\, which could result from allowing only APA-accredited programs as pathways to licensure.  We believe that multiple paths to licensure should exist and that the quality of the training should be the determinant of one’s competency to practice psychology.  \nThe following Letter On Equivalency\, recently sent to other State/Provincial licensing boards (and posted on our website)\, lays out CAPIC’s concerns\, our reasoning\, and our desired solutions.

SUMMARY:CAPIC Clearinghouse
DESCRIPTION:CAPIC Clearinghouse is the roughly 30-day period following the CAPIC Online Match for submitting applications\, ranking and matching in the CAPIC online match process.    \nFor the 2017 CAPIC Match\, Clearinghouse begins at 12 Noon on April 4\, 2017 on the CAPIC website. \nBelow are the main points of the CAPIC Clearinghouse process. \n\nDuring Clearinghouse (and Post-Clearinghouse)\, complete student application materials are still submitted online.  Students’ previously created materials may be used for these submissions. \n\n\nThe CAPIC website (www.capic.net) continues to provide info on doctoral internship programs still seeking interns. \n\nParticularly during and after Clearinghouse\, it is important for internships to update their profile to ensure an accurate list of participating programs for students.\n\n\nFor students\, those doctoral internships participating in Clearinghouse are listed as “participating in the current match process” once Clearinghouse begins on March 29th.  \n\n\nStudents should submit a normal\, complete set of application materials via the CAPIC website to internships where the student is interested in serving an internship.\n\n\nInternship programs then contact students directly to arrange interviews and extend doctoral internship offers directly to students\, as appropriate.\n\nStudents may also follow-up directly with internships where they are interested in serving.\nStudents must inform their DCT of any proposed internship arrangements\, to ensure it will meet their doctoral academic program’s requirements. Students must also obtain school approval before accepting any internship offers.\nOnce a Student and Internship program form an internship agreement\, the internship should inform CAPIC of the internship match via email (to capicadmin@capic.net).\n\n\n\nMore info is provided on our Clearinghouse web page.
